Hi everyone! I started a new fundraiser for the second intensive pt program for Scarlett! I want to thank everyone who donated/shared and made it possible for Scarlett to attend her first 2 week intensive at Leaps and Bounds! Scarlett learned new skills in those 2 weeks and she couldn’t have done it without everyone’s support!
The original plan was for her to complete a second session with Leaps and Bounds, but moving forward, we’re hoping to get her set up at a new place called Wetherbee Pediatric Therapy in Pasadena, CA. They offer a 2-week intensive program, 5 days a week, for 2 hours each day.
The main difference between the two is that Leaps and Bounds incorporated hippotherapy into their sessions (which Scarlett absolutely loved, by the way), while Wetherbee specializes in DMI therapy (Dynamic Movement Intervention), which we feel could be a powerful next step in her progress. DMI is one of the most effective therapies for helping children develop motor skills—especially when neurological conditions are present. DMI promotes neuroplasticity, helping the brain form new pathways to achieve functional movement.
Additionally, they focus on sensory processing and integration of primitive reflexes (important for achieving motor skills like crawling).
They also incorporate a variety of therapy tools, including:
-Whole Body Vibration (WBV) with the Hypervibe machine for strength building
-Chattanooga NMES for spinal stimulation and muscle activation
-Therapy Cage & LiteGait for upright movement training
-Trexo Robotic Walker (they are the only clinic in California with this device!)
-Theratogs for custom postural support
This type of therapy is not covered by insurance unfortunately and we want Scarlett to get the best treatment to hopefully make her life a little easier. Wetherbee Pediatric Therapy charges $225 per 50 min session. Our plan is to have Scarlett do 2 weeks → 2 sessions/day for 5 days per week which comes out to $4500. We still have $500 leftover from the first fundraiser so we’ll be using that towards this fundraiser so our goal is $4000!
This is a big goal, and we know it’s a lot—so even a small donation or a share truly means the world to us and to Scarlett.
Scarlett is full of life, curiosity, and potential. But physically, she faces challenges every day that hold her back from being as independent and strong as we know she can be!
We genuinely believe that with the right support, she can thrive—and your help brings us one step closer to that. Thank you for believing in her future.
