-Help Scarlet-Rose get Diagnosed-

Donation protected
EDIT: Wow- $900, this is so close to halfway to the appointment cost, Scarley and I are forever grateful. Thank you to the 24 donators! Let’s see if we can keep them rolling in, and help Scarlet-Rose with her day to day life. She currently spends 80% of her time in bed, in a dark room, due to what I believe is autistic burnout. She needs supports and help! End EDIT

Scarlet-Rose is a beautiful, intelligent, witty, and creative young woman. Unfortunately, like many neurodivergent individuals, she does not fit into society's education system. Her schooling years have been met with hesitation, anxiety, and a whole lot of home life struggles. She spent the majority of her days masking at school, only to come home and have a complete full-body meltdown.

I moved her out of mainstream school and over to a local Steiner school to see if this would suit her better, and for a time it did. However, when routine gets broken, as it often has these last few months with the near loss of her Aunty, and the real loss of my mother just 4 weeks ago, she is unable to have her routine and structure changing on such a constant basis. Even school holidays would see her struggling for weeks upon returning to school. She is now 100% home-schooled. She has expressed to me she wants to go to high school, but that she wants to be at home with me for the rest of this year, fingers crossed, I can get this diagnosis before next year and strategies put in place will see her transition back to on school learning.

I have been attempting to get Scarlet-Rose diagnosed with Autism and ADHD, for going on 7 years now. The public system refused to put her on the waiting list due to the high demand and long waiting period; they said there was no point. Each referral to a private paediatrician has been met with lengthy waiting periods, and falling off the list somewhere along the way. I finally managed to get her into a private pediatrician recently, only to be told that without consent from her other parent, he could not treat her; mind you, this was after paying the $570 initial appointment fee.

Just today, as I am filling out an application for registered non-schooling, I received a call from Psych Assessment and Therapy Centre in Bendigo. They have a space to give her a full psychological ASD and ADHD assessment. I cannot even remember when this referral was made, but of course, I took the opportunity to book the appointment. It has been booked for 24/07/2025. This appointment is going to cost me $2500. I have no idea where I am going to pull that money from, but after 7 years of chasing my tail, one dead end after the other. I. Will. Make. It. Happen!!!

Scarlet-Rose deserves to have an understanding of who she is, recognition of who she is, not just from those around her, but from the medical system and the schooling system. With a diagnosis in place, she will be able to receive funding from NDIS, which will facilitate the supports she needs. I cannot do this on my own, she cannot do this on her own, and we need this support. And yes, a single parent on full government benefits shouldn’t be in this position. The public health care system has dropped the ball on this one. Faced with this opportunity, I refuse to not pull through for her.

This is where you come in. If you have been on the journey before and you understand the burden, not just financially, but mentally and physically. If you have lost a mother and you know what it's like to not be able to work to provide for your family. If
you have a grandchild and you cannot imagine them going through life without support. If you're a brother, sister, Aunty, Uncle, or friend of someone with neurodivergent children and you know the ongoing struggle. If you're just an upstanding, superstar of an individual, and you would like to help me achieve this diagnosis for Scarlet-Rose, please contribute. Any amount, no matter how big or small, will help. And I know (I don't even need to check in with her), she will make each and every one of you a craft gift to show her thanks. She loves crafts.

If you have read this far, thank you! Please share where you can, and help me raise funds to have my daughter recognised and acknowledged!!
