***UPDATE*** Scarla has had her surgery which which went well. She’s now in the rehab phase and is progressing nicely. She can walk with some support. We are very encouraged with Scarla’s progress.
Please feel free to share our GoFundMe, we’d love to spread the word. There is a video above that shows Scara doing some walking. If this is your first time here, you will find Scarla’s story below. Thank you for taking the time to visit our GoFundMe.

I’m Johnny, my wife Stacy and I need help getting our sweet dog, Scarla, necessary medical treatment so that she can walk again. Scarla is 9 years old, a rescue dog, and looks very much like a black mouth cur. 7-10 days ago she began having trouble walking with her hind legs and now she can’t walk on them at all. We carry her when she goes outside to do her business, no small feet for two retirees (I’m 75) but we love this dog and are not going to give up on her.
X-rays have only proven that it’s not arthritis. Scarla will need a cat scan to determine the exact cause and then if surgery is indicated, well, surgery. All that plus the hospital care will add up to $9,000. We are prepared to take out a loan to cover this but we are hoping we could get some help. Even if the donations only added up to half Scarla’s expenses, it would be a tremendous aid.
We adopted Scarla from Arkansas Paws in Prison. PIP runs a program where prison inmates train rescue dogs. One day Scarla’s owners brought her to a vet to have her put down. Scarla was their dog but their other dog, a Mastiff, had mauled her badly. The vet took Scarla in and gave her all the necessary vet care to restore her health. She had a damaged eye and scars (hence her name) but had not lost her sweet personality. She eventually found herself in the PIP program that’s where we saw her on Facebook.
Scarla is the first dog my wife and I had adopted because we’ve always had cats. We have 11 of them now. We saw Scarla’s photo and description and fell in love. Now we’ve got her and we’re going to keep her happy. We also have another dog who must be about 14, we adopted Jada from animal control when she was over 10. We have 2 blind cats and 2 with diabetes, so with 13 animals in the house, there’s not a month goes bythat we don’t have some vet bills.
That is why we are hoping for some help.
