Shrimp Scampi was one of the lucky ones picked up off the streets at around 5 weeks old. We had our little man for less than a week before he came down with his first debilitating upper respiratory infection and was treated with antibiotics. He seemed to be recovering ok and continued to be treated for a plethora of worms, ear mites, etc. A few days after finishing 2 weeks of antibiotics, our little champ was taken in for an urgent care visit for lethargy and not eating/drinking. Scampi had a high fever of 106.7 and we were told to expect the worse. Miraculously, after two nights in the ER, Scampi was feeling much better after another suspected upper respiratory infection. During his stay, the vets discovered that his liver does not seem to be functioning properly, which may be contributing to his weakened immune system. We are sending out blood work and suspect an ultrasound and CT to tell us if he needs a $5,000 liver surgery in his future. If you are able to give, we are trying to raise money to support our sweet little man to afford his long road to recovery! He already means so much to us and want to give him the chance for a long and happy life!
