Help Sawyer and I say good-bye to my Mom.

Hi there,

On Sunday, July 30th, my Mom, Judy, was taken into the hospital by ambulance. At first, everyone thought she had an infection that would clear up after a few days with IV antibiotics in the ICU. After further testing, they realized that the infection she had was much more serious than anyone anticipated and that it unfortunately had spread to the extent that there wasn’t much more to do other than to make her comfortable for the last few hours of her life.

To say this was all a shock is an understatement. No one, not even the doctors, were anticipating this outcome and were all still processing this news and grief while also trying to spend as much time as we can with her while she’s still here. The last few days her room has been full of visitors and friends and I’ve been on the phone consistently with my family who is there with her in Oregon.

Getting across the country to be with her from Pennsylvania to Oregon before she passes is unfortunately not something that is in the picture for us, so right now we are focused on getting me and my daughter back to Oregon for her funeral service later this summer.

These things never happen at the best time, currently between friends and community we have both set aside for a plane ticket for me to return home but we are hoping for some more help so that we can make it possible for Sawyer to come back with me as well. Drew will not be traveling back with us due to some health issues he’s experiencing as well as needing to be local to help out with his own father.

Money raised will be used to secure an additional plane ticket for Sawyer, cover travel expenses, and help offset any wages I will lose during the trip that my PTO is unable to cover. Any additional funds earned will go towards our trip as well.

Beyond all of this, we welcome any prayers and thoughts or wishes of comfort and healing during this time. We also thank you for your outpouring of support during this unexpected and difficult time.
