Help Savion Relocate for a Healthier Future

Hi, my name is Shataria (Shay) Williams the parent of Savion Mitchell.

Savion was born February 14, 2007, and was diagnosed with Dextrocardia (Congenital heart defect). All of Savion's organs and heart are on the opposite side which is called Heterotaxy. This condition causes mirrored organs in his chest and abdomen.

Savion has been experiencing racism, antagonism, and bullying within 2 1/2 years attending this high school from students and teachers. My son was diagnosed with (PTSD), Depressive Disorder, and Anxiety Disorder caused by his past experiences and trauma in the school environment Dec 20, 2023. After several attempts to get my son transferred to the second high school affiliated with the district my son liaison and I was originally told yes he can attend. Due to his IEP we were waiting to get transportation/bus route information. A couple of weeks later Savion's liaison and I received an email declining Savion's entry to the second high school and insist he return back to his current high school.

I was told my son wouldn't live past 6 weeks old and would never talk or walk due to the severity of his condition. My son lived in Children's Hospital his first 6 months of his life and I moved into the Ronald McDonald house never leaving his side. Savion right vocal cord was paralyzed, he was born with no spleen, all of his organs are on the opposite side and backwards and missing his right ventricle. My son is now 17 yrs old and has done outstanding up until attending this high school. After 9 years of not being hospitalized on May 10, 2024 my son was admitted because his heart skipped a beat caused from stress and needing to wear a heart monitor for 30 days.

After several meetings with the school and getting nowhere. I've made the executive decision that it is better to move and relocate. The School environment here is detrimental to my son's health. The money will be used for moving expenses, traveling fees, rent, utilities, security deposit, and Savion a tutor.

Savion is a senior and I want him to have the best last year of high school. Because of my son's heart defect I have to live near a local hospital and at least 45 mins or less to a Children's Hospital.
