Help Save Zum Schneider FC

Together as a group we are stronger – if we all pull together we may be able to save the club!
Your favorite local grassroots effort soccer and social club is in peril – we need your help!
We send this email with heavy hearts but with the goal of being open and transparent with our members, supporters, and players.
Unfortunately, due in large part to the COVID-19 Pandemic and the recent economic disruption, we have lost 2 of our major sponsors, and our financial position is currently tenuous to say the least. The Zum Schneider restaurant has closed last year and while half the city is boarded up and many small businesses are closing doors, our NON-Profit Organization is falling into that same hole not being able to pay the bills…
We are close to having to pull the plug this week (!) and call it a successful 18 years but we wanted to start one last initiative before we have to do so, in hopes of being able to celebrate the 20th anniversary in 2023!
We are trying to raise $18,000 to pay near term bills (largely the Pier 40, Chelsea Waterside, and Roosevelt Island Fields plus league fees) that will allow us to keep our fields and maintain the club through the spring while also putting in place a longer-term sustainable financial plan. As you may know, once you give up fields in New York it is impossible to ever get them back, so pausing for a season or short while is not feasible and would result in the loss of Zum Schneider FC's fields and therefore the club. Beyond this drive and effort to raise money we do need another significant sum to finish the season and plan forward which I personally believe we can only achieve through sponsorship. The monthly membership fees we collect are simply not covering cost to run the club.
The Zum Schneider FC 03 is more than just a soccer team; it is a community of friends, a broad social circle with lots of support and a club with deep roots in the city, going back more than18 years, and any support you can provide would be truly appreciated.
The Club as a whole has over the many past years broad joy and safety and excitement, competition and sometimes just a good party or words of encouragement to so many players and friends, and family within this ever growing community of the soccer club and the Zum Schneider; …we would be sad for this to end when we all need the community and this type of support the most!
