On March 22nd, we found Ziggy, a 6-month-old puppy, abandoned on the side of the road near Yokum Road and West Range. He was barely alive, every bone in his body visible from severe starvation. His rear right leg was injured so badly that he dragged it when he tried to walk. When we took him to the vet, X-rays revealed his femur was completely broken in half and had already begun to heal incorrectly.
It gets worse. Someone had tried to cut his ears, leaving them mutilated, and his whiskers had been burned. He was also suffering from worms and extreme neglect. Despite everything he’s been through, Ziggy is the sweetest, most loving puppy. Even in pain, he has shown nothing but kindness. He’s gentle, not aggressive, and gets along with our dogs and even our grandchildren.
We were told that due to the severity of his leg injury, he would need a specialist. We are doing everything we can to save his leg because he deserves a full, happy life after everything he’s endured. We’ve already taken him to multiple vets. One incredible vet in Ponchatoula helped us by providing X-rays, vaccinations, neutering, worm treatment, and even a two-week supply of food and pain medication. Another visit was also a blessing. We are so grateful, but we still have a long way to go.
We are now asking for help. Every donation, no matter how small, brings us closer to giving Ziggy the life he deserves — one without pain, fear, or suffering. If you can’t donate, please consider sharing his story. Thank you for helping us give this sweet boy a second chance.
