Hi, my name is Cherone Smith.
I’m a fighter training at Zealot Muay Thai in Bali.
And the gym that gave me and many others a chance is on the edge of closing.
Zealot is not a luxury gym.
There are bigger gyms in Bali. Cleaner gyms.
Gyms with investors, ice baths, saunas and large marketing budgets.
But Zealot is different.
It is one of the last local-owned Muay Thai gyms here.
Built by Jerry, who trained for years in Thailand and became a champion before opening this gym in Bali.
He didn’t build Zealot only for tourists.
He built it for fighters.
Right now, Jerry is carrying debt trying to keep the doors open.
If we can’t secure rent soon, the gym will close.
And if that happens, opportunity disappears.
Not just for me as I’m preparing for my first fight but for two young fighters Jerry flew in from Borneo.
He paid for their flights. Provide them food. And they have been sleeping in the gym for months.
He trains them every day. Because they have talent and they deserve a chance to become professional fighters and support their families back home.
If Zealot closes, they go home.
And that chance disappears.
A few months ago, Jerry told me he was close to giving up.
The pressure, the financial stress, the fear of losing everything he built. He was having a mental breakdown.
I told him not to give up!
Because places like this matter.
How the Funds Will Be Used:
We are raising €15,000 to keep Zealot Muay Thai alive.
€10,000 will be used to:
Clear existing debt
Secure one full year of rent
Prevent eviction and immediate closure
This ensures the gym can continue operating and that our fighters can keep training.
The remaining €5,000 will be invested into improving the training environment, including:
New gloves and shin guards
Hand wraps and protective gear
Replacement heavy bags where needed
Fresh mats and essential equipment upgrades
This is not about luxury upgrades.
It is about maintaining safe, functional equipment for fighters who train every day.
Every cent goes directly toward keeping the gym operational and supporting the athletes who depend on it.
Keeping a real Muay Thai gym alive and protecting opportunity for fighters who don’t come from money.
This fundraiser is set up through my personal account in the Netherlands because GoFundMe does not currently support withdrawals to Indonesia.
All funds raised will be given directly to Jerry and Zealot Muay Thai in Bali.
I will post updates showing how the funds are used.
If you love Muay Thai…
If you believe fighters deserve a chance…
If you want to protect a local gym built on tradition instead of luxury
Please support us.
And if you’re ever in Bali, our doors will be open to you.
Thank you.
