Hi, my name is Christina, and I’m fundraising for my 5-month-old kitten, Yoshi.
I adopted Yoshi from a shelter just two months ago, and anyone who’s had the pleasure of meeting him will tell you how unique, affectionate, and loving he is. He’s always been deeply bonded to me. Unfortunately, my energetic sweet boy recently began to decline very suddenly. He became lethargic, stopped eating, lost weight, had a color change in one eye, and became constipated.
After testing at his vet, a rare disease called Feline Infectious Peritonitis (FIP) is strongly suspected. Yoshi is currently diagnosed with severe anemia, which required a blood transfusion and may require another, fluid in his abdomen, anorexia, dehydration, and multiple abnormalities in his bloodwork. He is currently hospitalized at Schwarzman Animal Medical Center in Manhattan, NY and undergoing diagnostic testing and treatment to help stabilize him.
FIP was once considered fatal, but there is now a treatment that can save cats’ lives with an 80-90% success rate and we are pursuing every option available to give him that chance. He will be starting the medication for FIP today. Treatment is extremely time-sensitive and typically lasts 84 days, with costs in the thousands. Yoshi’s hospital bill alone is estimated at $15,000, not including ongoing treatment. I have receipts of this that I will kindly share with anyone who wants to donate but is in doubt.
I am doing everything I can for Yoshi. Despite everything, he is still fighting and fortunately is getting better. He has moments where his sweet personality still shines through. My little guy is truly the light and love of my life. He saved me in ways I can’t fully put into words, and now I’m asking for help to save him. I believe with my whole heart that he deserves the chance to grow up, and live the full, happy life he is meant to have.
Any funds raised will go directly toward:
• Hospital bills
• FIP medication
• Veterinary visits and monitoring
• Lab work and supportive care
If you’re able to donate, even a small amount, it would mean the world to us. If not, sharing this fundraiser is just as meaningful. Thank you for taking the time to read Yoshi’s story and for standing with us during this incredibly difficult time. I will be posting updates as we learn more.
With gratitude and love,
Christina
