My cat Woody is fighting for his life after being diagnosed with a rare and devastating blood cancer called polycythemia vera. His blood is thickening and could start clotting inside his veins, and without immediate treatment, his body could start to form clots. His heart is struggling to pump such thick blood, putting him at serious risk of heart failure. The past 48 hours have been a blur of emergency vet visits, tests, and doing everything I possibly can for him.
Right now, Woody needs multiple treatments just to reach a stable point. After that, he will require lifelong phlebotomy to manage the disease. Even with the best care, his life expectancy is heartbreakingly short—maybe five years, if we’re lucky—but I’m determined to give him every year, every month, every day he can get. Anyone who knows me knows I never ask for help unless I’m truly desperate. And today, I am. The cost of his diagnostics, emergency care, and the ongoing treatments he needs to survive has already become overwhelming. I’ve covered everything I can on my own, but now I can’t do it alone anymore.
I’m asking for help to give Woody a chance. He’s sweet, gentle, and endlessly trusting—he doesn’t understand what’s happening to him, but he’s fighting, and I want to fight with him. Any donation, no matter the size, brings him one step closer to stability and gives him more time to be here, loved and safe. If you’re unable to donate, sharing this page means more than you know. Thank you for reading, for caring, and for helping us in this moment of desperation. Woody and I are so grateful.
