Help save Willow's life, if not her leg..........

Hi Dog lovers of North Carolina, Florida, Texas, California, the UK and wherever else my social media friends may be. I'm asking for your help to save a special dog.

Willow was brought to a local veterinary ER by the sheriffs department after being found on the freeway in the Durham area. We don't know if she was dumped there, or just a family pet who got out and lost her way. She's estimated to be between 1 and 2 years old. She is suspected to have been hit by a car as she has several injuries, and most significantly, a broken femur in her left leg. Despite being in tremendous amounts of pain, this girl is as sweet as can be. Animal Protection Society of Durham (APS) initially paid for her stabilisation and pain relief to give an owner a chance to come forward. However, no owner has stepped up. Due to the overwhelming number of dogs in their shelter system, their current funds for treatment, and the nature of expensive veterinary care Willow needs, the shelter ultimately made the painful choice to euthanize Willow. The thought of this little girl being euthanized over something as fixable, albeit expensive, as a broken leg broke my own heart. I have offered to try and raise funds and foster Willow so she can get the care that she needs. APS has generously accepted Willow into their foster care program while we attempt to raise further funds for surgery to save her life. They've provided her a crate, blanket, toys and vaccines and medications. While I'll be contributing my own money, I cannot pay all her needs myself. Surgery to fix her leg is estimated to be between $6-8k. Surgery to amputate her leg (and thus safe her life) is estimated to be $5-6k. Repairing her leg would give her a better long term quality of life, but costs more and has a much longer recovery time. While I'd love to be able to raise funds to save Willow's leg, I'll settle for raising enough to save her life.

Although we might not be able to save every dog, I want to try and save this girl. She's such a great dog, its incredible for a dog with a broken leg to still be rolling on her back and giving kisses. I'm asking for the community's help with funds to get Willow the care she needs and save her from euthanasia. .

Willow will need a rescue/long term foster or a new home once she is recovered. I'm also hoping to find someone who could watch her January 24th to January 30th while I am out of town for an unalterable commitment. If you cannot help financially but could help with this, please let me know
