Help save Willie's leg

Donation protected

Hi! My name is Willie! I'm a really special girl who is on a very long journey to fix my wobbly legs. I need another surgery for a better quality of life. I was born with deformed fronts legs which caused me to walk on my carpal joints when I was a puppy. I’ve been working really hard to straighten my legs so I can walk on them without a brace or wheelchair. I went to physical therapy twice a week for a year and had one major osteotomy surgery on my front left leg, all before the age of 2. My doctor says that I am going to need ongoing specialized care for the rest of my life.

After two really challenging years in therapy and recovery, I decided to stay with my foster family permanently so I can get the lifelong care I need. I’m so happy to finally be adopted! But in February of this year, my forever family took me to the specialist for a follow up on my legs. We found out that now I need surgery on my front right leg! You see, my right foot is twisting which is putting a lot of pressure on my joints. If I don’t fix my foot soon, I risk damaging my carpal joint forever which would mean I would have to amputate my leg.

My forever family loves me so much and told me that they would not let this happen, but they really could use some financial help. The estimate for surgery is $4400-$5700. And even though I have health insurance, the surgery won’t be covered because my twisted foot is considered a “pre-existing condition”. Surgery is scary and the recovery will be long, but surgery is the best option I have at living the best life possible (walking all four legs)!

Here’s what the doctor said:

“There is mild to moderate right distal radial deformity associated with concurrent valgus. It would be reasonable to consider a corrective right radius and ulna osteotomy to prevent significant progression of right carpal and elbow osteoarthritis.” -Dr. Guiot, Access Specialty Animal Hospital Bone and Joint Center
