Help Save Wilber

Donation protected

Greetings everyone,

Due to unforeseen circumstances Wilber has succumbed to his illness.  We are donating the entire amount collected to both organizations of Pulmonary Fibrosis research in US and the other one in Wilber's home town Leon, Nicaragua.

With the greatest amount of gratitude for all your help, Wilber Castro's family and friends.

Greetings dear friends,

On behalf of Wilber's entire family, we would like to express our most sincere appreciation for your financial and moral support provided during this difficult time. In addition, we would like to update you regarding the latest occurring on Wilber's health, US visa issuance and the next necessary steps with God willing to shed some lights and guidance to open the doors of other countries to assist us with Wilber's incurable disease.

Unfortunately, Wilber's health continues deteriorating and still depending to breath via an oxygen tank one hundred percent 24 hours a day. He has had several anxiety episodes that have required taken him to the emergency room. Wilber could not obtain a US nonimmigrant visa to attend his medical appointment at Mayo Clinic scheduled on June 10, 2019. Therefore, we are pursuing other countries that perform lungs transplants, inquiring amount of funds required for this procedure and to schedule medical appointments, to evaluate Wilber's health to accomplish this procedure.

We humbly ask you to continue your generosity to this noble cause so Wilber can enjoy a longer life.

May God bless you and your family and hoping that He listens to yours and our prayers.

Sincerely,

Wilber Castro and family.

Wilber Castro Rios
was diagnosed with Interstitial lung disease Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis mid year of 2016 in Leon, Nicaragua. A fatal genetic disease for which there is no cure. His pneumonologist, Dr. Pablo Roberto Amaya in Nicaragua said that Wilber is out of options: He needs a Lung Transplant.

Our family, desperately to help sent several emails to different organizations, media news, clinics, hospitals and doctors in Canada and United States for orientation or information regarding Lung Transplant. Unfortunately, in his native country of Nicaragua, these doctors do not perform this kind of surgery, luckily Mayo Clinic from Minnesota answered our emails and scheduled him an appointment for June 10, 2019.

To do so we have to fly him via commercial airlines from Leon, Nicaragua to Minnesota Mayo Clinic. Wilber desperately needs your help as his health deteriorates each day.

Wilber graduated from Tecnico La Salle College in Leon, Nicaragua as a Mechanical Technician where he used to work and had a normal life. He is married and has one daughter. On December 2015 his twin brother, Fabio got sick and was diagnosed with extreme asthma attacks and by March 2016 he was diagnosed with Interstitial Lung disease Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis. Following Fabio's diagnose, Wilber went to the doctor and also was diagnosed with the same incurable illness. He, then started regular clinic visits including tomography, biopsies, treatments and spirometry exams.
Wilber had to stop working because he feels extremely tired, immense fatigue, constant coughing, and often without a breath. Not counting the multiple visits to the doctor with different prescriptions just to help him going day by day.

He now depends of an oxygen device 24 hours a day.

Wilber lost his mom when he was 17 years old due to Interstitial Fibrosis Pneumopathy disease. His older sister who was 19 years old took care of him, his twin brother and his younger sister finishing the difficult job by raising them.

Wilber's twin brother Fabio unfortunately, passed away Thanksgiving day of 2018 with the same disease that he is facing at this time.

What's Next

To come to Minnesota Mayo Clinic and wait for it diagnosis. What we know is that the costs at the Mayo Clinic are exorbitant high up and without your help, Wilber won't be able to cover them.

We also know that Wilber's family and friends in Nicaragua, Canada and Unite States are in desperate need of your help. His family in Nicaragua, Canada and United are trying to collect funds via several ways including, radio stations, banners, news outlets, fund page and social media hoping to cover his medical and travel expenses.

PLEASE Help

Anything helps, if you or someone you know has any air miles that they do not need or free nights at any hotel in Minnesota are also appreciated.

God bless you for reading Wilber's story and for your generosity by contributing to his touching cause.

Could you please help to achieve Wilber's family and his friends the first step and donate to his noble cause?
