Help Save Voyages Preschool

As is the case with many of you, this has been one of the hardest years of my life. This week, it broke my heart to have to tell our preschool community that we are on the brink of completely shutting down our school and laying off our teachers as early as June unless we can get more financial support. We are currently working from home and providing our community online content. Kristin Sherman and I are doing everything in our power to stay afloat including not paying ourselves to help keep Voyages Preschool going. In response to this news, one of our teachers, Dana Kao has shared an inner school plea we wrote for Voyages. Perhaps more astounding is that this Voyages teacher has asked to be taken off payroll to support the school’s cash flow. On top of all of this, she and her family made a generous donation. Teachers are dedicated heart and soul - go hug a teacher (from 6’ away)! It’s with great humility that we ask you to think of the beautiful days at Voyages. The warmth that greets you at the door, the joy that fills your child’s day of learning, the connections to our local community that build a sense of place are all an intentional curation of childhood that is Voyages’ lifeblood. The teachers’ singing voices, warm embraces, careful listening, tucking in at nap time and encouragement to try new things in the company of respectful and loving little peers is building a love of learning, a respect for oneself and friends, and reinforcing your ideals of home and family.
