Hello - my name is Cris and my friend Johanna and I rescued a senior female shih tzu mix that we have renamed Victoria (formerly known as Daisy) about one week ago in Brooklyn, NY.

Last Sunday, Johanna noticed Victoria on a street in Brooklyn as her previous owner was being openly abusive to her (Victoria) in the street. Johanna approached the owner and - long story short - he quickly told Johanna that he wanted to "get rid of her" and was trying to make a quick dollar by selling her.

Victoria looked very sad, lifeless, matted, and dirty. Also, the owner could not tell us much about her history - only that she was a senior dog and an inconvenience to him. We quickly learned that this was a very bad situation and the following day Johanna rescued Victoria from this person. We immediately changed her name to Victoria (from Daisy) in hopes of giving her renewed hope and happiness. However, we have since learned that Victoria is very sick, likely from years of neglect and maltreatment. Firstly, she was very hungry upon arrival at Johanna's home - signs she was not being taken care of properly. Also, she has a very bad urinary infection and enlarged bladder stone that will require surgery. The stone is causing her daily, nonstop pain and blood in her urine. She also has various other health issues, but our main concern is now removing the bladder stone to save her life and take away years of pain. We are thus raising funds to offset the costs of Victoria's surgery and recovery, which the vet has estimated to be approximately $3,000.

We hope to give Victoria the best treatment we can and save her so that she can live out the rest of her years in happiness. Thank you all for considering a donation to our cause - we truly appreciate it and will do the absolute best we can to give Victoria a happy life.
