Have you ever felt as if you were working for free? With no payment in sight or hopes of being in the black? In hindsight, for me, the past year has been a whirlwind. In June of 2019, I had to relocate thus causing an expensive move and a rebuild. As things were looking up, Covid-19 came in like a thief in the night causing my business a mandated shut down, rendering a total loss of income. During that time I applied for unemployment and the EDIL, only to be denied even under the PUA. I received a small loan that could only be used to fund a portion of my lost wages with an added caveat that 25% was specifically for utilities. While people were thoughtful and some prepaid for services, it wasn't enough for me to sustain my business alone. Now that I am working again, I am faced with the dilemma of paying 2 months rent at once. Due to social distancing, I am now in need of a more permanent structural makeover to allot for the requirements. I have wavered and thought about closing the doors and counting the entire business a loss. I have also had anxiety and stress adding to information learned yesterday that the cease of rent will be lifted and landlords can require all owed monies at one time.Covid has caused a huge strain on my business and for the foreseeable future, things won't be the same.
As a society, this is our new normal and as the numbers continue to rise, people are becoming more afraid of one-to-one contact. I can't blame them as I sometimes have a fear of taking illnesses home to my family.
People have no clue what it is to have to work for yourself without another stream of income. As a business owner, when I don't work, I don't get paid. There is no severance pay or vacation pay to subsidize my income. This has been one of the toughest times in my life! My goal is to raise $5,000 to pay rent and make some permanent changes in an effort to sustain doing this Covid-19 era.
Any donation would be greatly appreciated. I thank each of you in advance for your consideration in this matter. Your kindness knows no bounds.
