The Smiles You See on Their Faces Hide the Pain and Tears We See Everyday.
We've put this page together to raise money to pay for hospital treatment for Usha Jain who's fighting for her life in Canada during the Covid19 pandemic. 2020 has come and gone, but the struggles, hardship, and challenges continue for Usha.

Usha is 61 years old who came to Canada to spend time with her newborn grandson and her daughter Gareema’s family. Due to Covid19 and being at high risk, she had no choice but to extend her stay in Canada and eventually ended up developing severe medical complications including chronic kidney disease (stage IV) and a leaky heart valve.

Early December in 2020, Usha got admitted into Grand River Hospital located at Kitchener, Ontario due to elevated water retention, weight gain, and other chronic conditions. The hospital staff did all they could to stabilize her condition and released her from the hospital after 7 days. However, suffering from all the illnesses Usha was unable to walk on her own, as she spent her days in bed not knowing what life will bring for her next.

Two days after Christmas of 2020, Usha suffered another blow and had to visit ER again at St. Mary’s Hospital where she was diagnosed with septicemia and was put on a ventilator for breathing support. While she was being treated for advanced stage CKD, it took her more than a full month in the hospital to regain her mobility.

Starting 1st January 2021 Usha has lost her Medical Insurance and the new policy doesn’t cover her "pre-existing" conditions that were treated during her recent hospital stay. She needed rehab to fully recover, however, due to loss of insurance coverage, she was discharged from the hospital on Jan 22, 2021, still weak and needing full-time care at home. Her heart also has a leaky valve that cannot be treated immediately in Canada due to the wait times and very high costs.

Due to the given situation, Usha’s family had also considered sending Usha to India for getting further treatments and support. However, all the doctors who have seen her at the Hospital including her family physician advised that Mrs. Usha is at significant risk from complications if she contracts Covid19 during her travel.

On Feb 23, 2021, she was again admitted to St. Mary’s Hospital and she needs dialysis treatment. Medical bills are starting to climb up steep and Usha’s family needs all the help they can get to pay for the ongoing medical expenses. Healthcare costs are already burdensome to most and this is going to be a heavy financial burden for Usha and her loved ones.

The financial need is astronomical but you can’t put a price on a person’s life. Gareema, mother of a 2 year old is unable to get back to work as she’s now acting as Usha’s full time caregiver. Gareema’s family is frightened and they need your help to save her precious and much-loved mother's life. Her family has been under tremendous emotional and financial stress for almost 3 months now with no certainty when Usha will be stable and get back to living normally again.

These are difficult times for everyone due to this brutal pandemic, but if you can spare anything, even the smallest amount of change for this cause, it will help buy Usha some more time to let the doctors do their work and save her life.  Please help us reach the fund goal by March 10, 2021. If you are unable to donate, please share this story and pray with us.
