Help Save Us And Our Escape Room

It all started with a dream to bring entertainment to families just like our own. We had always enjoyed entertaining guests and finding creative ways to celebrate events throughout the year. We both felt this strong need to adapt our creative skills into a viable business model but were unsure about where to focus. After visiting our first escape room, we were instantly hooked. Finally, we had discovered the outlet we were looking for.
We pooled all our resources together and created the first escape room to open in our home city of Ranch Cordova, CA. Together and with our own two hands (well actually four hands to be precise) we designed and built our little game. Between permits and buildout, the process took nearly six months and in June of 2018, we proudly offered our product to the public.
The first year of business was spent building our name and building our business in hopes of expanding in the near future. Everything was going great and by the end of 2019 business was really starting to pick up. The 5-star reviews were flowing in as word spread about our mom and pop escape room in Rancho Cordova.
Then 2020 began and our hopes were high. Everything was right on track. We were thrilled about realizing our plans to create new innovations in the world of live action interactive gaming. Just when we were really starting to gain some traction the unthinkable happened. The pandemic hit. Covid-19 brought detriment to so many small businesses and JAR Studios was no exception. At first, things slowed down, then the state shutdown.
We closed our doors temporarily on March 13, 2020, not knowing when or if we would be able to reopen. Fortunately, our savings carried us through the initial shutdown. Additionally, we were visited by enough guests afterward to help keep us treading water. Now, we find ourselves in the midst of a second shutdown with no more reserves to draw upon.
Prior to the pandemic, the escape room had become our main source of income. Subsequently, our family's personal finances have taken a turn for the worse. We now not only fear losing our business but also our home and everything else we worked so hard for. Even keeping food on the table has been difficult at times.
Ultimately, the funds raised here today will help us and our three children to weather this storm so that we can rise up and come out stronger on the other side.
