My partner and I help care for a small colony of community cats in San Jose, and right now two of the cats urgently need medical attention.
For the past several weeks, we’ve been feeding and monitoring two cats whose conditions have become increasingly concerning. One cat has a large open wound on his neck that appears to have been there for some time. While the wound thankfully seems to be slowly scabbing and healing instead of worsening, he still desperately needs veterinary treatment, antibiotics, and a proper medical evaluation before the injury becomes life-threatening.
The second cat is extremely thin, weak-looking, and appears unhealthy overall. We are very worried about his condition as well.
These are not social house cats — they are feral/community cats with a history of TNR (trap-neuter-return), which unfortunately makes rescuing them much harder. They are extremely cautious and trap-aware, so safely trapping them has taken time, patience, and repeated attempts.
We are doing everything we can ourselves, but emergency veterinary care for feral cats becomes expensive very quickly. Between exams, sedation, medications, wound treatment, bloodwork, emergency procedures, recovery supplies, and possible long-term care, the costs may be far beyond what we can realistically afford alone.
Funds raised will go toward:
* Humane trapping equipment and supplies
* Veterinary exams and emergency visits
* Sedation and safe handling
* Antibiotics and medications
* Wound treatment and cleaning
* Bloodwork and diagnostic testing
* Recovery crates, food, and supplies
* Possible surgery or emergency procedures
We know not every outcome can be guaranteed, especially with feral cats, but we want to give these cats a real chance instead of leaving them to suffer outside without help.
Even if you cannot donate, sharing this fundraiser would mean so much to us and could help these cats reach people willing to help support their care.
Thank you for caring about these community cats and for helping us try to give them the medical attention they deserve.
