Help Save Tucker: A Story of Love, Courage, and Resilience

Last night, tragedy struck our beloved family member, Tucker, in the most unexpected and heartbreaking way. What started as a typical evening of grilling on the patio with Tucker and our younger dog Collins quickly turned into a nightmare that no pet owner should ever have to endure.

As we prepared to take our furry companions for an evening walk, we noticed something was terribly wrong with Tucker. He was panting heavily, trailing behind, and showing signs of distress. It wasn't until we returned home and discovered blood running down my leg that we realized the severity of the situation. Tucker had been shot.

The shock and devastation were overwhelming as we rushed Tucker to not just one, but two veterinary clinics, and now to an emergency board-certified hospital in Omaha. The X-ray images revealed the unimaginable - a bullet lodged in Tucker's lungs, with blood and air filling his chest cavity.

Our sweet Tucker is currently undergoing a series of critical procedures, including IV pain medications, fluids, sedation, and a thoracocentesis to remove air compressing his lungs. The road ahead is uncertain, with the possibility of additional surgeries in Kansas City or Des Moines to remove the pellet and repair the damage if he can't be stabilized.
