Some people survive in this life despite remarkable odds. Travis Skeem is one of these. Up at 5 am as long as caregivers show up so he can be in his wheelchair and out the door, rain or snow not excepting, to be at job he’s held for 20+ yrs. I have known him for several years and in that time he has been hit by cars, left in bed by days without assistance, tipped over in his chair onto a frozen street due to snow on sidewalks. The list goes on, but my friend is resilient and has many amazing people that love and support him.
I reach out to you now on his behalf because he’s been hit hard! Went in for what he thought was the flu only to end up with a massive surgery caused by a bowel obstruction and a not so lovely colostomy. It will be quite a recovery period and our friend could sink financially without some $$$$ help.
When you have to ask for and rely on help every single day of your life for the most basic human assistance to survive - it’s hard to ask for more. But we can ask for him:-)
