Help Save Trainwreck!
Trainwreck joined our family in August. He was found with a severe facial wound, and was caught by good samaritans and brought to the local animal shelter, where I work, for care.
The vet who looked at him initially recommended euthanasia due to the extent of his wound and temperament, but I thought we could give it a shot. Trainwreck never put up a fight as we flushed and scrubbed his wound twice daily for a month, and as he learned to trust us, he quickly wiggled his way into Kyle's heart. We made it official and adopted him permanently.
Unfortunately, today we learned that Trainwreck is diabetic and is in the hospital with ketoacidosis. He has a good prognosis with treatment, though he will be insulin dependent.
We will do everything to help this boy continue his comfortable, happy life in our home, but we need help. The high estimate for his hospitalization and lifesaving care at MedVet is $4,000, and like most people this year, that just isn't something we can do alone.
For Christmas this year, help us bring our boy back home.
Any funds raised in excess of his hospitalization will be used to cover the cost of required foods and insulin products; further excess will be donated to the Cincinnati Animal CARE Community Cat Program to save more cats like Trainwreck.
