Help Save Toffee’s Life

Hello,

My name is Christelle and we are a family of four. Myself, my husband Rahif, 4 years old daughter Mila and our adorable dog Toffee.

We brought Toffee during Covid when she was 2 months old, same age as my daughter Mila.

Our dream is for them both to grow up together. She is Mila’s best friend and a very special dear member of our family.

This is the heartfelt story of Toffee, our beloved 3-year-old Pomeranian/German Spitz. Toffee has always been the light of our lives—full of energy, love, and joy. She’s never faced any health issues before, which is why it was such a shock when, on Sunday, August 11th, we noticed the first signs of illness.

Toffee began vomiting and passing bloody diarrhea, leaving us terrified and unsure of what had caused it—perhaps something she ate by accident. Her condition quickly worsened. Our once-bubbly companion suddenly stopped eating and became lethargic, and our hearts ached for her.

We rushed Toffee to two different vets, and the second advised us to admit her to a specialist hospital, where she now fights for her life in the Royal Veterinary College hospital. Diagnosed with severe hemorrhagic gastroenteritis, Toffee was critically ill when admitted on Thursday, August 15th.

In these difficult days, Toffee has shown tiny signs of improvement. The free fluid in her stomach and lungs has cleared, and she seems a bit more aware of her surroundings. Although her bloody diarrhea persists, the inflammation hasn’t worsened. We hold onto hope, believing it’s only a matter of time for her to heal.

Toffee is not just a pet; she’s family. We refuse to give up on her. However, her hospital stay has already cost us more than £11,000, and expenses continue to rise by £1,000-£2,000 each day. The past 10 days have been incredibly challenging, draining and emotionally exhausting. Now we have to deal with financial burden of ensuring Toffee receives life saving treatment. We’ve exhausted our savings, and we humbly ask for any support you can offer to help Toffee recover and come back home, happy and healthy.

We are appealing to the kindness of our family, friends and community to support us. It’s urgent now for her to receive immediate help.
