Help Save Tim Munshaw’s Life – Liver Transplant Journey

Donation protected
Hi, and thank you for being here.

My name is Allison, and I’m reaching out on behalf of my dad, Timothy Munshaw—a kind, adventurous, and deeply loved 67-year-old husband, father, and new grandfather who is currently facing the most critical health challenge of his life.

After years of battling progressive liver disease, my dad’s liver function has now declined to the point where a transplant is his only chance for survival.

He has been officially evaluated and listed as a suitable candidate for liver transplant surgery through Toronto General Hospital.

We are actively seeking a living liver donor for my dad - and we are also asking for your support to help us navigate the emotional and financial challenges of this journey.

A Unique and Urgent Opportunity: Living Liver Donation
Did you know the liver has the miraculous ability to regenerate?

That means a healthy person can donate a portion of their liver, and both the donor and recipient will regrow a full liver within a few months!

Living donor transplants mean:
✅ Shorter wait times
✅ Better outcomes
✅ The incredible chance to directly save a life

The risk for donors are generally low. Which makes this life saving option more popular than one might think. The living donor team at Toronto General Hospital will work with the donor to make sure every step of the process is explained fully and understood.

✅In 6 to 12 weeks, the liver grows to about 90% of its original size
✅The hospital stay for donors is about 5 to 7 days
✅Donors can usually return to work after 6 to 12 weeks

My Personal Journey
As his daughter, I have taken the first step and applied to be a living donor myself. It’s an emotional and hopeful process, and while I am deeply committed to helping in any way I can, we won’t know for some time whether I am a medical match. Because of this uncertainty—and the urgency of his condition—we are also seeking others who may be willing to make this incredibly generous and life-saving offer.

Even simply sharing this message could lead us to the donor who can help give my dad a second chance!

My dad is my hero. A devoted family man. A proud husband. The father of two daughters and a brand-new grandfather to a baby boy, who already adores him. His deepest wish is to watch his grandson grow up, to share stories, build forts, and create more memories with his wife and the people he loves most.

A Message from My Dad
My name is Timothy Munshaw, and I am a 67-year-old retiree living in Caledon Village, Ontario. I spent my professional life working as a chemist, a career that brought me both intellectual fulfillment and a deep appreciation for the science behind life-saving medicine.

Today, I find myself facing the most critical challenge of my life: I am in urgent need of a liver transplant.

Over the past several years, I have been living with progressive liver disease. Despite every effort to manage my condition, my liver function has now deteriorated to the point where a transplant is the only remaining option for survival. I have been evaluated and officially deemed a suitable candidate for liver transplant surgery.

Outside of my health struggles, I am an active and outgoing person who finds joy and purpose in the outdoors. I enjoy snowmobiling, ATV-ing, and working on various projects around the house—particularly building and repairing decks. I’m a proud and engaged member of the Dufferin North Peel Hunters Association, in nearby Orangeville, where I’ve built lasting friendships and found a sense of community.

Family means the world to me. I am husband to an incredible wife, Julie, recently retired we have dreams of spending our long awaited golden years together. I am a father to two wonderful daughters, Allison and Erika, and a proud grandfather to a relatively new and very special grandson, Levi.

My greatest hope is to continue being present in their lives, to see my grandson grow up, and to create many more memories with my loved ones.

I am committed to doing everything I can to recover and live fully.
I approach each day with a sense of gratitude, hope, and determination. I remain positive and proactive in my health journey, supported by a strong network of family and friends who are walking alongside me every step of the way.

With the gift of a liver transplant, I will have the opportunity to keep showing up for them—stronger and healthier.

Receiving a liver transplant would not only save my life—it would allow me to keep doing the things I love and to contribute meaningfully to my family and community.

I am deeply grateful to everyone who supports organ donation. Your generosity and compassion can give people like me the greatest gift of all: the chance to live.

With endless thanks,
Tim

How You Can Help
  • Consider Living Donation
If you or someone you know is healthy, between the ages of 16 and 60, and has blood type A or O, you may be eligible to donate a portion of your liver.

Additional information can be found here:

Individuals who are interested in applying to be a donor will be supported every step of the way. If you have questions, or wish to connect personally you are always welcome to contact me directly.

  • Make a Donation
Your donation will make a meaningful difference in this journey—for my dad and the person who may one day save his life.

While the transplant itself is covered by OHIP, there are many unexpected expenses—including travel, temporary housing, parking, medications, and recovery-related costs for both recipient and donor.

All funds raised will go to support my father on his journey to recovery and to our donor to help offset any costs or income loss that may be incurred during their recovery period.

We want to ensure that finances are never a barrier to this incredible act of generosity. Thank you for helping us to overcome this obstacle.

  • Share Timothy’s Story
Please share this campaign with your network. Awareness is everything. You never know who might be the match we’re waiting for—or who might be moved to share it with someone who is.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for reading, for donating, for sharing, and for holding our family in your thoughts. Your compassion could truly help save my dad’s life.

With gratitude and hope,
Allison & The Munshaw Family
