Yesterday, my partner and I found a French Mastiff in dire need on the side of the road. We discovered him emaciated and barely able to walk—stumbling with weak back legs that made every step a struggle. His condition suggests he was abandoned and left to fend for himself, and our attempts to locate his previous owner have so far been unsuccessful.

His gentle nature and remarkable training have stood out even in these challenging circumstances. He walks beautifully on a leash, never has any accidents, and responds to the sound of our voice. Despite his likely partial or full blindness, his spirit remains unbroken and he has nothing but love to give. The second he hears our voices, his tail wags and his head tilts - he desperately needed a human companion after roaming for so long.

Since our local animal control cannot help due to our town not being contracted with a shelter, he faces the very real risk of euthanasia if we don’t act ourselves. We are not willing to let this happen to such a gentle, loving dog. We have taken him in as temporary foster care while we work to secure rescue support.

We’re raising funds to cover his immediate needs, which include:

• Veterinary Care: A complete checkup, bloodwork, and essential treatments.

• Nutritional Support: High-quality food to help him regain his strength.

• Comfort Essentials: A cozy bed, toys, harness, and other supplies to aid his recovery.

I’m also happy to share that he has shown signs of improvement today—gaining energy and slowly regaining some strength. Any remaining funds raised, once he finds permanent rescue support, will be donated directly to the rescue organization to ensure his continued care.
