Help Save this rescue "Johndog" from Heartworms

Thank you everyone for stopping by. I'm reaching out to the community to help us fund treatment for his abandoned Rottweiler found in Houston, Texas. I first found out about him on the Next Door app I frequent. Being I was a former Rottweiler owner/enthusiast; I was compelled to step-up and bail him out of the Animal Control Center or our local Dog Auschwitz.

What you see in the picture is a dog whose owner put him in the sit position, then drove off. I highly suspect this was done because of a positive test for heartworms as so it is for some many dogs here. So rather that save or euthanasia too alleviate suffering, they opted to abandon him. Trusting as he is, he never left that position. Took a long time too convince him it was ok to come with us... because they were not coming back for him. And that we would do everything in our power to save him from his timeclock fate.

"JOHNDOG" is a very powerful 102lb. absolute gorgeous specimen of an animal who has larva and adult stage heartworms. Aside from an ear infection, he's in superb shape and condition by all appearances. He absolutely looks like he would win a blue ribbon from every ring he entered every time. ❤️

Being that he has adult stage heartworms, we know he's had them for at least 6 months. The question now is, "How serious is the h/w infection?" That can only be determined by a chest X-ray and lab panels; some $400+. If it's determined he's not saveable, we opt for immediate euthanasia to prevent as much suffering as possible. It's about a $95 process. I will hold him in my arms so he won't have to be alone during the process even though it's a painless process I'm told and from what I've personally experienced with my own Rottweiler. That's the worst-case scenario.

Best case scenario if he is considered healthy and young enough to survive treatment, which is what my Toby was told; who was in way worse condition before starting the exact same treatment. Toby has done fantastic, so I believe if JohnDog's heart isn't too compromised yet, he will have the same prognosis. After which, I'll be coming back and pleading for help to pay his treatment cost. So, thank you for listening allowing us the opportunity to say, "We did absolutely everything we could/can do to save this beloved life." ❤️

Bless you all!!!
