Help save this long-standing Montana horse rescue facility
Montana has a long history with horses, and still today has thousands upon thousands of
horses. Unfortunately, this means some horses end up in crisis situations of neglect or abuse.
Connie Sparks and Epona Equestrian Center (and now Epona Equine Rescue & Rehab) have quietly taken in rescued
horses for decades without asking for funding – paying all the costs associated with rescue through the horse boarding, training and instruction.
Today, it is Epona who is in crisis.
Our long-time 134-acre facility has been put up for sale by the owners, and our lease will not be renewed. We have to move by July 1 if we cannot raise the funds to purchase the facility.
We have nowhere to go.
With the loss of the facility goes the loss of the horse boarding, instruction and training that has funded the rescue work of Epona. Also gone will be an incredible community asset including a commitment to teaching young and old to ride and take care of our horse friends with respect and empathy.
Connie Sparks, a longtime Montana resident, has been working with horses, rescuing horses and teaching about horses for 40 years. After a lifetime of giving to horses and community, Connie and Epona need help desperately. This is a tragedy for the horses, for Connie, for all her staff and volunteers, and for all the community.
If we can raise enough, Epona would attempt to purchase the facility and continue the incredible work we do every day. In the worse case scenario, Connie needs funds to help support the horses in foster homes and finding suitable places for her other feathered and furred creatures that depend upon her. She would keep working to raise the funds needed to re-establish elsewhere, as daunting as this seems. Please help by donating to save Epona Rescue, a 501c3 organization - your donation is tax-deductible.
