Oreo needs your help!

When we opened on the door on Monday. We saw a small cat dragging himself across the ground, his back legs limp, his body weak, but his eyes full of hope. He crawled toward us and then collapsed, as if saying, “Please, help me.”

We rushed him to the vet, desperate to give him a chance. The first words we heard were heartbreaking because he was a “stray,” the vet suggested putting him down. But he came to us for help, and I couldn’t give up on him. To me, there’s no difference between him and any of my own animals. They all deserve a fighting chance.

The good news: He wasn’t hit by a car, and his kidneys and thyroid are healthy.

⚕️ The challenge: He likely has an infection that’s left him too weak to walk. Right now, he’s on IV fluids and needs to stay in hospital, possibly for a week or longer, while we wait for answers.

This is not my cat, just a soul that showed up at my door asking for help. Someone once told me that if an animal comes to you seeking help, it’s a sign from someone above. I truly believe this was a sign from Marcus, and that I was meant to help him.

I could have walked away and let the vet put him down. That was the easy thing to do. It wouldn’t have cost me a cent. But I couldn’t. I saw a cat who wanted to live, who had dragged himself to my door believing someone would help.

Now I’m asking for your help to keep that promise. ❤️

So far, his vet bills have reached $825 as of today, and this does not include anything from tomorrow onwards. As you can see, this boy is not ready to come out of the hospital. Each hospital stay costs $90 per day. Another round of blood tests will be $245, and if his condition doesn’t improve soon, further testing will be needed. There’s also the cost of unknown medications at this stage, and once he recovers, he will need desexing and vaccinations before he can safely move forward.

My goal at this stage is $3,000, as I do not yet know the full ongoing cost of his care. The moment I have more answers or his treatment is complete, I will stop the funding immediately. Anything remaining will go directly toward the ongoing work I do rescuing, desexing, and rehoming street cats.
