Help save the Mikeyland Gardens

Donation protected
Hi furriends,

The Mikeyland Gardens are in danger! If you can help Meowmy save them, please donate. Every dollar counts, no amount is too small.

Yesterday morning Meowmy heard people talking in the garden, opened the bedroom window and saw 3 people in the part of the garden that has the steep roof Manami loves climbing. She asked them what they were doing there and a man told her he would come talk to her when the meeting was over.

To be clear, Meowmy uses 3 separate gardens:

1-The garden that she rents with the house where the outdoor kitties come to eat. Approx. 50m2/540 sq ft.

2-The biggest garden that has the barn with the steep roof Manami loves climbing that belonged to a German man who died in 2010. He had no wife, no children and his distant heirs are not interested and never answered to the mail from the notary and genealogist who searched them. Approx. 100m2/1080 sq ft.

3-The small garden where the blue barrels collect rainwater and where Meowmy grows irises, tomatoes, green beans and strawberries. It belongs to a nice man who lives in the village and lets Meowmy use it. Approx 25m2/270 sq ft.

The man that works in a notary office explained Meowmy that the house next to the barn is on sale and an investor plans to buy the house, the barn and the garden very soon to renovate them and sell them as a package or they may be split into small apartments. More people, more noise, no more privacy.

If it happens, Meowmy will lose the biggest and richest garden out of the three where she’s growing the Yellow Pear tomatoes, tulips, most of her roses and the raspberries. Some of the hedgehogs cross it to come eat to the feeding spot. The garden Meowmy rents is too small for her to relocate and grow the fruits and flowers that are actually in the big garden. She’s also very worried to have such close neighbors that may not be kitty and hedgehog friendly as their property would extend to the statue where Nox enjoyed sitting next to.

Moreover no access to the big garden would also mean no more access to the small garden (garden 3) as Meowmy has to pass through the big garden to go to the small garden.

She always knew it was temporary but the mayor told her a few months ago she had around 15 years ahead of her regarding the law as the sale of the property was blocked for 30 years after the death of the owner because of the heirs not responding. I guess he was the wrong about it.

Meowmy always hoped she could buy the garden and the barn but now it seems the sale is happening sooner than she expected and possibly to someone else.

Now the barn and the land belong to the commune and Meowmy will try to get informations about it on Monday. It seems that in this situation the property goes on auction. Potential buyers make a secret offer by mail after the commune advertised about it on a specific time frame and the person that makes the highest offer becomes the owner.

The barn and the garden don’t have much value (estimated 4000/5000 euros by the man Meowmy talked to) but it will go on auction so the amount could go higher. And at least one part of the roof of the barn has to be repaired to stop the rain leak on the wall that the barn and the house have in common, which the new owner of the house would complain about. The only way to let the barn it as it is for a little bit longer is to buy the house (so no one can complain) that is the cheapest one could ever get, it’s sold for 35 000 euros. Meowmy asked to visit it next week. It’s a beautiful well maintained house from the outside as you can see on the picture. It has a tiny garden with delicious mulberries that could be the 4th garden of Mikeyland.

Furriends, it’s a lot of information to digest and Meowmy has a terrible migraine and feels nauseous but Mikeyland is going through a very challenging time as its biggest garden and the barn may be sold to investors. Its inhabitants, indoor and outdoor, could lose their peace and tranquility. If you can support us and want to help Meowmy to become the official owner of Mikeyland and invest in French property in a lovely village near Dijon, please contact her as it’s quite an emergency as the investor will take a decision very soon. Meowmy is in shock and panic and devastated to think those gardens she put so much love and energy into may not be part of Mikeyland anymore.

MEOWMY'S GOAL IS TO:
-Buy the barn + the big garden (they can't be sold seperately). Their estimated price is 4000/5000 euros + notary fees but they will most likely be sold on secret auction so the final price may be higher.
-Buy the house on sale for 35 000 euros + notary fees.It has a common wall with the barn
-Repair the wooden frame and the roof of the barn that is leaking on the wall of the house (cost has to be estimated).

Meowmy will keep you posted on updates.

Thank you for your support furriends! Every euro/dollar counts, no amount is too small. If you can't donate, please share and hopefully we can save the Mikeyland gardens.

PS: I recommend to donate anonymously to avoid scammers contacting you on Instagram, especially if you use the same name, as some furriends reported Meowmy they were asked money by strangers. Your name will be hidden from the other viewers but Meowmy can see it.
