Join us in fundraising for a beloved movement leader and mentor to many.
She has fought for all of us. Now it’s time we show up for her.
One of our fiercest, most unwavering Black abolitionist leaders—a mother, organizer, and visionary who has spent her life dismantling cages and confronting state violence—is now facing a life-threatening health crisis.
She has been diagnosed with a deadly aortic aneurysm and urgently needs a life-saving medical procedure that is not available in the United States. The only proven safe option is abroad, not covered by U.S. insurance. We need to raise $135,000 to cover her surgery, travel, and recovery—before fall 2025.
Without this procedure, the consequences are likely fatal.

She has always taken care of the movement. Let us take care of her.
This is a formerly incarcerated Black woman who began organizing from inside prison, challenging inhumane conditions, medical neglect, and legal violations from within. After her release, she continued to build grassroots power from the ground up. She has supported incarcerated people and their families, led decarceration efforts, and fought to end the criminal punishment system at every level.
As the Executive Director of a frontline movement in Arizona—the 5th most incarcerated state in the country—she has led mass bailouts, legislative reform campaigns, political education efforts, and abolitionist leadership development rooted in the needs and wisdom of directly impacted Black communities.
And she’s done all of this while quietly navigating a serious and debilitating illness that our healthcare system has made nearly impossible to treat.
Now she needs our care.

This is about more than one person. This is about sustaining Black movement leadership.
Healthcare in the U.S. is a site of structural violence. As politicians abandon our cries for universal care, and philanthropy proves itself unable—or unwilling—to meet this moment, we rise for each other.
We are the ones who know this system’s violence intimately. We’ve survived it. We’ve organized against it. And now, we’re calling on our people to do what this state never will—protect Black life.
If we are to survive the coming political storms—especially under an increasingly authoritarian administration—we need our freedom fighters alive and well. We cannot afford to lose her.

This is urgent. This is life or death.
We cannot allow a system that already tried to cage her to now quietly kill her. She deserves to live—not just survive, but thrive. She deserves the kind of care she’s spent her life fighting for.
This is one of our own. She’s given her life to this movement.
Now, we need to give what we can to help save hers.
Please donate. Please share. Please organize.
Let’s show what it means to build power through care.
