Jim and Jodie Bowen who operate the Heart and Soul Café are my Mom and Dad.

I was fifteen when they opened the Heart & Soul Café twenty-five years ago.

I’ve been there to see their successes and struggles. I know that they have not taken a salary from the operation for twenty-three years.

They have not taken vacation time for twenty-two years and have missed numerous holiday’s and family time.

Since and “Covid” nothing is the same in the service industry; with rising costs and diminished trade, they have been unable to get the business back to what used to be normal operation and have had to deal with repairs to aging equipment and structures. Especially after the tornado.

November 1 of this year will be the 25th Anniversary of the opening of the Café. This is also the date of a large and overdue repayment for the property.

My parents are selling their home in Almonte in order to be able to settle this debt, but with this sale they may still be short of funds after the House Mortgage is settled.

I want to help and I would ask you to help. Let’s keep one of the last Store Fronts in Dunrobin on the street and in the Village. They been there for their community countless times, even when they were struggling. It was always important for them to give back. The community means a lot to them.
