Help Save the Graniteville Forested Wetland

The Coalition for Wetlands and Forests needs your help saving the Graniteville forested wetland in Staten Island. We are a coalition of environmental groups, civic and condominium associations and people who care.
This campaign is raising money to prevent the destruction of 18 acres of forested wetland  with 2,000 mature trees,  to make way for a big box store, parking for 835 cars, gas station and two additional buildings.
The forested wetland saved Graniteville from flooding during Hurricane Sandy and without it, the community around the wetland will be flooded.  The soaring cost of flood insurance and the loss of Mom & Pop stores will financially devastate the community, as well.
Environmentally, the trees absorb/block air pollution emitted from nearby chemical plants.  The North Shore of Staten Island has a high rate of childhood asthma and Staten Island has the highest cancer rate of the five boroughs.
Your donations will help with lawsuits, with educational forums and with public awareness campaigns.  For more information visit our website SICWF.org
