Hi, I'm Shayna.

I am humbly raising funds that will allow me to move to the island of Roatan, Honduras, so I can work to help save over 200 homeless cats that have a very grim future. The cats were recently abandoned on the island's only rescue property. They live in two wired cages with dirt floors. Most of the cats are ill and need immediate medical attention. They do not have access to regular food and water, as funding sources/money have been lost. A small group of animal lovers have assembled to try and find a solution for these cats as well as the (over 300) dogs on the property. As you can imagine, there are no easy decisions nor is there a simple answer.

Bottom line: These animals could be released into the wild or euthanized if serious help is not given.

Last month, the founder of the only shelter on the island abandoned it. It is currently housing over 500 dogs and cats and there was NO plan put in place for these animals. They have no reliable or guaranteed way of getting food, water, or medical care. The plan will likely be to euthanize any animal that is too sick to be RELEASED back outside. Those that are "lucky" enough to be less than severely ill will be put back into the jungles of Roatan- DISCARDED- where they won't have shelter, any semblance of safety, receive any medical care, or food/water. Cats and dogs will be macheted, shot, burned/scalded alive, beheaded, or poisoned by those on the Island in efforts to get rid of them. Many of these animals have learned to rely on humans. They don't know how to fend for themselves. Other consequences of this decision will be beyond disastrous. My heart is broken.

I am so sick over this that I can't function.

I was told the cat I recently adopted from Roatan (named Peach) through an AMAZING rescue organization called "Flight Angels of Roatan" would be on the kill list if she hadn't been rescued by Flight Angels and sent to the US to live with me. I cannot begin to tell you how completely wrecked I am by this news. I need to do something substantial. And quickly. PLEASE, PLEASE consider donating to my campaign.
