Help Save Tanzie By Getting 2nd Opinions for Stage 4 Cancer
Donation protected
We are Tanzie's parents. Tanzie is 14 years old. Her cancer journey started when she was 10. Tanzie is a very active child; she loves to draw, dance, and watch Anime. During spring break of 2021, she fell out of nowhere and a giant knot appeared on her leg. We took her to the ER where we found out that she has a form of bone cancer called femur osteosarcoma. The knot turned out to be a tumor. The doctors at Arnold Palmer Children's Cancer Hospital determined it was aggressive, and MRI, CT scans, and a biopsy determined that it covered her right femur, knee, and the top part of her shin. She went through around 29 weeks of chemotherapy. She had to have surgery to remove the tumor during the middle of chemo. They had to remove the tumor, do reconstructive surgery on her knee to rebuild it, and they are taking her femur bone out. They replaced the femur bone with a metal bone. After all of this was done, she had to do 2 years of physical therapy to learn to walk using her prosthetic bone.
Tanzie's cancer relapsed again for the 2nd time in July of 2023. She had two surgeries removing the muscle in her leg around the same spot as last time. She had another 8 months of physical therapy. She did not have to do chemo at this time.
Fast forward to September of 2024 . She went in for scans just for a check-up, and they found a spot in her lungs. They monitored the spot over the next 2 months, and it had grown. The spot is her cancer that has metastasized to her lungs. She now is considered stage 4. She had to have surgery to remove the tumor in her lung.
Jump to April 2025 Tanzie has relapsed again. This is her 4th battle and this time it is bad. This time the cancer is in her mediastinum near her heart and on her lower lung. She has started 2 new chemos. She had to have a drain tube put in to her lung to drain fluid out of it. The doctors have said this is it. As of right now they have gave her a time line of months to a year. They will not operate at all.
We are asking for help with finances to go to 2nd opinions. Unfortunately Tanzie's insurance will not cover out of state opinions. We have to pay out of pocket. We cannot transfer her insurance there unless we move there. We cannot move there until we know if they can do something for her to save her life. Right now we are trying to get opinions from MD Anderson in Texas, Cincinnati Children's in Cincinnati, Arnold Palmer Orlando Florida, and MSK in New York. We are trying to do everything we can to find away to save her life. We will have to pay for consults, travel, stay, and food.
Right now MD Anderson is the closet to us and we could travel to them for about $1500. So that is our 1st goal. That will pay for the consult fee, travel, and stay while there.
We are just parents trying to do every thing we can for our child. She has a battle ahead of her. We really want to get as many 2nd opinions as possible and things she needs. Thank you all for your support! I hope that you will keep us in your prayers! Love from our family! #cancersucks #teamtanzie #bonecancer
