My name is Rita Balbo. I am Danish, living in the Netherlands, and since October 2023 I have watched Gaza’s devastation unfold with heartbreak and disbelief. Every day brings new loss, new destruction, and tens of thousands of civilian deaths.

In the middle of this tragedy is Safaa Al‑Turkmani, a mother I have come to know. She is alone with her four children—Ashraf, Tala, Ikram, and Adam. Her husband Amer was taken while working in Beersheba shortly after October 7th. He is under administrative detention (imprisoned without charge), and Safaa has not heard a single word from him since. Not even the Red Crescent has been able to reach him. The family does not know whether he is alive or what his condition may be.

Their suffering deepened in June 2024, when a bombing during one of their displacements injured Tala, then just 14 years old. She is now paralysed in her legs, unable to control basic bodily functions, and at constant risk of severe infection. She has also developed Guillain–Barré syndrome, a dangerous condition that may soon affect her breathing.

Tala urgently needs medical evacuation. The UAE is ready to receive her, and the WHO has placed her on the emergency list. All that is missing is Israel’s approval.

Until that approval comes, this family is fighting to survive. Food, clean water, pain medication, and physical therapy are scarce and extremely expensive. Your support can keep them alive and give Tala a chance at recovery.

Please share this fundraiser. Please give what you can. Every contribution matters.
