Help Save Sweet Macie’s Life

Macie is an 18-month-old Yorkie who should be chasing toys, cuddling on the couch, and living her very best puppy life. Instead, this past weekend turned into every pet parent’s worst nightmare.

On Saturday, Macie suddenly became extremely lethargic. She could barely walk, wouldn’t eat, and was terribly disoriented. Her worried mom and dad rushed her to not one, but two emergency veterinary hospitals between Saturday and Sunday night, desperately searching for answers. Those visits alone totaled $1,200.

After extensive evaluation, Macie was diagnosed with a Portosystemic (Liver) Shunt, a life-threatening condition where blood bypasses the liver and toxins build up in the body. She needed immediate, specialized care. The doctors told her family that without urgent intervention, she might not make it through the night.

Macie was rushed to Virginia Tech Veterinary Hospital for advanced diagnostics and ICU care. She is currently undergoing ultrasounds and critical testing, and she remains in the ICU fighting for her life. The cost has already reached $3,000 — and treatment options have not even been fully discussed yet as they wait on results.

Macie is the sweetest little Yorkie with the most loving heart. She is her mommy and daddy’s whole world. They are devastated but determined to give her every possible chance at a long, healthy life.
