Hi, my name is Casey, and if you know me you know Louie is my best friend in the whole world. I adopted Louie as a kitten when I was 18 and he’s been through everything with me over the last ten years. He’s a really special cat, people always comment on how unusually friendly, gentle, and sweet he is. He’s also the funniest cat I’ve ever met and brings everyone he comes across so much joy. He's ten years old now but truly a lifelong baby boy.
Friday night, sweet Louie fell suddenly ill and started acting abnormally which led us to rush him into the emergency veterinary clinic. We were there all night while they ran extensive tests, revealing that he had a urinary blockage, which we are still not sure the cause of, and an undiagnosed heart condition. The cause of his urinary blockage is still unknown but it could be an additional undiagnosed underlying health issue.
He was put under and operated on that night to “unblock” him. The poor guy is still staying in the hospital under watch and being given fluids and meds until he’s stable enough to be released. Each test, each treatment/medication, each procedure, and each night he has to stay at the hospital racks up thousands of dollars in bills. After he’s finally released, he will need to see a cardiologist to undergo diagnostic tests and then with that diagnosis receive whatever the recommended treatment is. The vet has mentioned that he may need to eat expensive prescription food for the rest of his life.
This situation has been as shocking as it is devastating. Something like this can never be predicted and while I’m prepared to do everything in my power to give him the long life he deserves, the financial burden is multiplying at an alarming rate. The emergency care/hospital bills alone are already over $7k and growing, and he still needs to see a cardiologist, diagnosis and treat his heart condition, and get his necessary medications and prescription diet. Genuinely, anything you can do helps.
I know everyone says this about their pet, but if you’ve had the pleasure of meeting Louie, you’ll know that he is truly a uniquely sweet and hilarious cat. He’s such a pure little gem. He's brought nothing but joy into everyone's life he’s touched and he deserves to be the pain-free and energetic boy he normally is.
If there is anything you can donate to help, know that you will be helping keep the sweetest boy in the world healthy and I will forever be grateful to you. Absolutely anything helps, even a share! Let’s get the word out as far as possible.
This is so hard for me to do; I’m not comfortable asking for help like this and have never made a gofundme before, but I would literally do anything for Louie. He’s a real life angel and he deserves the world. Please help me save my baby. Thanks in advance for anything you can do. Much love .
