Sukie is my friend's beloved pet, a rescue who was born with three legs and faced a difficult start in life. She was saved from a back alley breeder and was going to be put to sleep, but with a lot of help, she found a loving home and has been able to live a wonderful life. My friend, who has a disability that prevents her from working, adopted Sukie and they have become inseparable. Sukie is the closest thing my friend has to a child, and their bond is truly special.

Recently, Sukie became very sick and after being evaluated by an ER doctor, she was diagnosed with mucoceles of the gall bladder. She needs emergency surgery (cholecystectomy) to save her life. The vet bill is overwhelming, and while we have been able to raise some funds with the help of close friends, we are still short of what is needed for Sukie's surgery. My friend has no family or support except for those of us who have helped so far, and losing Sukie would be devastating.
