Help Save Suki: Urgent Vet Care Needed

This is my only option and my SOS. My family’s beloved cat is in crisis. He needs transferred to another facility to be hospitalized and to have chest tubes placed to get the infection out of his chest cavity that is causing respiratory distress because it’s crowding his lungs.

My sweet tuxedo polydactyl Suki went into respiratory distress last night and had to be rushed to the emergency vet. The infection is severe. It is in his abdomen and around his lungs.

As I am sure you all know, vet expenses are very financially burdensome.

My Suki is young. Too young to die because his treatment was too expensive for me to afford without it taking from the bills that have to be paid to stay above water for my 4 kids. If it were just me, I would live in a tent to save his life.

As of now the bill is already $1050 not including labs and cultures to determine what organism is causing the infection, And also not including the recommended transfer to another facility to be hospitalized for close monitoring, IV antibiotics, and chest tube placement.

I just started my new job, and due to the gap between jobs, this is happening during a time I am especially financially compromised. Anyone who knows me know I would NEVER ask for help even when I desperately needed it; but this is something I cannot suffer though without accepting any help I can get.

Suki is only 2 years old. The vet thinks the infection resulted from a puncture wound presumably from a dog bite that he incurred several weeks ago. The wound healed externally but apparently caused a great deal of infection internally.

My conscience will not allow me to give up on him and take the cheaper route of euthanasia that would be the most humane alternative if I cannot absorb the expense of his treatments.

According to the rough estimates of the ER vet we are looking at at least $3000 if we can find a vet in our area willing to place his chest tubes, or upwards of $5000-$8000 if we have to take him to a bigger city to do it.

I am humbly begging, all pride aside, for help for my sweet Suki Boy.
