Hello friends!
As you know, the COVID-19 pandemic has hit small businesses in Toronto incredibly hard. Our family's business, Studio D Shoes, has not come out unscathed. We wanted to launch this GoFundMe to help our parents, Derrick and Judith Adams, out a little through this difficult period.
It was a life long dream of our parents to run their own retail business, to have agency and power over the work that they love to do, so we were infinitely proud when they opened Studio D in 2015. They saved for years to make it a reality and funded everything with their own money. Our parents have always been ambitious go-getters and they've poured every drop of themselves into this boutique.
This past May was supposed to be a celebration of Studio D's five-year anniversary. Instead, the store was closed from mid-March to mid-May, during one of the peak sales periods of the year and 80% of the Spring 2020 merchandise (coming from Europe) was never shipped, leaving the business on unstable footing going forward as businesses across the province have been allowed to re-open.
We'd like to help them out with the following (for full transparency):
- Rent (this is the big one!)
- Overhead costs
- Paying vendors to get merchandise in now that factories in Europe are re-opening
- Shipping costs
Whether you can donate, share this GoFundMe, like Studio D on Facebook or follow on Instagram , it would mean the world to us!
xx love,
Kelsey + Stephan
