Hi! I am seeking some help with continued kitten chaos. I hate to ask for help, but we could use it.

Some back story: We bought a home in an area that had a stray cat population a few years ago. We have done our best to combat this and have spayed/neutered, vetted, vaccinated and found homes for 7 cats already. Last week we rescued our second litter this summer, 5 more kittens. They were in the middle of the road and almost got hit multiple times in the short span of time that we observed them. We just could not leave them to be killed.

We were able to get one of the kittens tested for FIV/FeLV, and they are negative! We also had to have this one evaluated for an upper respiratory infection. These services, along with dewormer for the litter and the office fee were $162. We had to get this done so we would be able to bring them inside with our other cats while we get them up to weight for spay/neuter surgery. We are planning on getting him all fixed at the Spot Clinic in Parkersburg next month or through the Rascal Unit if openings become available. These are the most affordable options with availability in the near future. This will be $50-$55 per cat for surgery. They will each also be required to get a rabies vaccine for $10+ per cat. We could really use some help with this cost. We already spent nearly $300 on rescuing, testing, spaying/neutering and vaccinating a litter last month and it would have be so much more without the help of the Athens County Humane Society and the Rascal Unit.

As for the kitten population issue, the cat we assume is the mother of this litter has not been on our property since we rescued the kittens. My hope is to, at the very least, TNR her if she does come back. We cannot trap her if she is not on our property.

It is devastating to see more and more cats be be born into danger and to struggle for no reason. Please, please, please spay and neuter your outdoor cats. In less than three months, in a few mile radius, three cats became eleven. We really thought we got the last female last month but unfortunately we were wrong.
