Help Fund Sparky's Heart Surgery

We recently discovered that our boy, Sparky, has a heart tumor. The doctor’s recommendation is a subtotal pericardiectomy. This procedure removes pericardium tissue to allow fluid to drain into the thoracic cavity, alleviating stress on his heart.
On Saturday, March 13th, Sparky developed a bloated stomach and struggled to breathe. We rushed him to the ER and were notified that there was an excess of fluid around his heart and in his belly. The veterinarian recommended leaving him overnight at the ER or euthanizing him. The vet was able to drain the fluid from his heart, stabilizing him for a brief amount of time. She told us that he might pass away at any moment, so we decided to take him home that night so that he may be surrounded by his family.
Luckily, our strong boy made it through the night and we were able to bring him to a heart specialist in Tinton Falls, NJ, who notified us of his heart tumor. The tumor causes fluid to develop around Sparky's heart, which will lead to heart failure if left untreated. Constantly draining the fluid from his heart is not viable for Sparky's health as his heart will suffer from being punctured too often. Therefore, the heart specialist recommended the subtotal pericardiectomy procedure. However, even after the surgery, we will have to continue draining the fluid from other parts of his body, such as his lungs or his abdomen, to ensure his recovery.

Sparky is a 7 year old French Bulldog, and is the most unconditionally loving dog. He loves belly rubs, chew toys, and snoring (he’s a French Bulldog). He loves to shake hands for a treat, rolling around in the grass, and sun bathing by the window.
We are devastated to know that we can lose our baby and can not thank everyone enough for all the love and support. My family, Sparky, and I, thank you, from the bottom of our hearts.
