Help Save Soul to Soul Smokehouse

Dear Community, Friends, and Restaurant Family,

I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to you today with a heavy heart but also with hope and determination. As many of you know, I am Jewuan Marshall, co-owner of Soul to Soul Smokehouse, along with my brother Charles Robinson. Our journey in the culinary world has been one of passion, resilience, and community spirit.

From the age of 6, I found solace and joy in the kitchen, cooking breakfast for my mother. Surrounded by the supportive presence of the women in my life, I developed a love for cooking that transcended mere sustenance. When my mother passed away, I carried forward the family tradition of hosting gatherings, honing my skills through years of practice and love for the craft.

Charles choose another path by joining the Navy after his high school graduation. There he honed his culinary skills that began in our mother's kitchen. After he got out of the Navy, he he continued expanding his skills by making it his chosen profession, working in hospitals and high volume restaurants.

It was the encouragement of family and friends that propelled us to pursue our dream of opening a restaurant. With unwavering support, we embarked on this journey, and in January 2021, Soul to Soul Smokehouse opened its doors. However, our path has been fraught with challenges, from the tumultuous events surrounding George Floyd's tragedy, the crippling effects of the COVID-19 pandemic to the sky-rocketing inflation that soon followed.

Despite these obstacles, we persevered, until we discovered that our previous partner had mishandled the financial aspects of our business, leaving us in a precarious position with the IRS and falling behind in rent. Swift action was taken, legal advice sought, and we forged ahead, determined to right the wrongs and keep our dream alive.

Now, as we face the daunting reality of losing our restaurant due to lease non-renewal, I turn to you, our beloved community, for support and solidarity. We need your help to keep Soul to Soul Smokehouse alive, to preserve the essence of our culture and culinary heritage.

I humbly ask for your assistance in any way you can offer. Whether it's sharing ideas on alternative locations, providing resources for catering opportunities, or spreading the word to potential investors, every contribution, big or small, makes a difference.

Let us rally together, as a community bound by love for good food and shared experiences. Let us show the strength of our unity and the power of our collective resolve. Together, we can overcome this challenge and ensure that Soul to Soul Smokehouse continues to serve as a beacon of warmth, flavor, and connection in our neighborhood.

Please reach out to me with any ideas, suggestions, or offers of support. Or you can donate to me directly at    Your kindness and generosity mean the world to us, and we are immensely grateful for your unwavering support.

With heartfelt gratitude and determination,
