Help Save Snow: Support Her Recovery Journey

On 9/9/2025, sweet Snow the Borzoi leapt over her backyard fence and was hit by a car. She was rushed to an emergency clinic in Fort Worth, where she was diagnosed with a pneumothorax, multiple lacerations all over her body, and bilateral radial/ulnar fractures. On 9/12/25, she underwent fracture repairs at an orthopedic surgery clinic and had plates put on both legs. She was given a good prognosis.

Unfortunately, after surgery, 3 additional fractures were discovered, including an open fracture of her right hind 5th metatarsal (hock). On Tuesday, 9/23, a culture report of her bone came back showing she has picked up multi-drug resistant E. coli. She was started on an injectable antibiotic, Meropenem, on 9/25.

After surgery, her owner, Shelly, had already spent over $27,000 to save Snow’s life. Now she will need additional wound vacs, her bone plates removed, and external fixators placed. She has a cautiously optimistic prognosis for a normal, pain-free life should her owner be able to continue her care, but the estimated cost of that care is another $20-30,000.

Snow is still eating, drinking, wagging her tail, and attempting to walk. The thought of giving up now is absolutely devastating when she has come this far and fought so hard. Funds will be used to cover her revision surgery, potential surgery on her hock, and wound healing after care. We are extremely grateful for anything you are able to contribute.
