*** Update : We are happy to share that Skippy has successfully undergone his amputation surgery and was discharged from the hospital today. For the next two weeks, he will remain in a crate to ensure his incision heals properly and to allow his dislocated hip to recover. This period is crucial for his rehabilitation.

We are deeply grateful for the outpouring of support from our community. Thanks to your generous donations, we have been able to provide Skippy with the care he urgently needed. Skippy's journey is far from over, but with your continued support, we are confident he will regain his strength and mobility.

*** Update from Maiya (Skippy's Momma) We had planned to do his leg amputation and take him home. Things did not go as planned. When they put him under and shaved him, they discovered he had fleas. With this being the case, they decided not to do the surgery because the risk of infection was much higher. In addition to this, his heart rate and blood pressure was way lower than normal due to the amount of drugs. We are now having him on a high dose of flea killer that will start working immediately and his fleas should be gone completely within the next 24 hours.
I made the tough decision to bring him home.. so he could be in the comfort of his own house with his brother again. We have him on pain meds to help, as well as the flea medication. We are now looking at having his surgery done on Monday or Tuesday once a vet opens up, and his fleas are gone. He is handling things pretty well.. besides wanting to walk around and explore the house.
Please continue to have Skippy in your thoughts and prayers. He’s a tough guy, and such a fighter. I will keep everyone updated on when his amputation will be and how he is doing. Thank you for the continued love and support from you all.❤️‍❤️‍❤️‍
*** Update: Skippy is going into surgery for amputation today. He is able to pass urine on his own at this time, and has been able to eat a very small amount. We love you SKIPPY <3

Dear friends, family, and compassionate strangers,

On the morning of May 8, 2025, my sister Maiya's cat Skippy was found severely injured after being struck by a car. Left alone overnight, he was discovered the next day and rushed to emergency care. Skippy is currently hospitalized with a broken hip and leg, and his nerves are severely damaged, affecting his bladder and tail function. Due to the extent of his injuries, amputation of his leg may be necessary to prevent further complications.

Skippy’s Journey So Far:

Immediate Care: He was admitted to the hospital for urgent treatment, including pain management and stabilization.

Ongoing Treatment: Skippy is awaiting additional X-rays to assess the full extent of his injuries.

Possible Amputation: Due to nerve damage, amputation of his leg may be necessary to prevent further complications.
