Bobbie’s miniature donkey Sienna was bitten by a rattlesnake in her corral on Saturday, July 17, 2026. The bite was on Sienna’s upper lip, and it was a terrifying moment for both Sienna and Bobbie. Bobbie immediately called the veterinarian, who came to treat Sienna in her corral. The vet administered anti-venom and other medications, and returned three times that day and twice on Sunday to give more meds and fluids. On Sunday afternoon, the vet told Bobbie that Sienna needed to go to San Luis Rey Equine Hospital in Bonsall to save her life.
Bobbie didn’t have a horse trailer, but after calling around, someone kindly offered to help transport Sienna for $300. The costs for the veterinarian visits, transportation, and care at the hospital are adding up quickly. So far, the veterinary visits have cost $3,000, and the treatment at the hospital is $5,000. For a retired person on a fixed income, these expenses are overwhelming.
Bobbie is doing everything possible to save Sienna's life. They can use your help.
