Help Sicily After Fires - One tree at a time!

After the recent devastating fires in Sicily - Our family will commit to planting and caring for 100+ new trees in Sicily.

This is our small, but important effort to help our region recover its losses from recent fires...and to give our Sicilian toddler a more hopeful future on this island. The trees will be planted on our land (previously abandoned for 100 years) and the surrounding treeless hillside (also abandoned).

About us - We are a Sicilian/American family who in 2019 moved back to Sicily to raise our child on this beautiful Island. We bought an abandoned 10,000 sqm farm with the plan to "bring the land back to life" and create holistic space near Volcano Etna. We are currently converting the abandoned wine mill on our farm into a green architecture retreat space - @liquoricehill. Our farm and the surrounding abandoned treeless hillside are located approximately 20 minutes inland from the famous Taormina in the northern foothills of Volcano Etna.

About the trees - We have the goal of planting 100 new trees this January 2024 (when it is time to plant trees) on the abandoned land around us and within our farm. We will plant a mix of baby trees (1 - 3 years old) and juvenile trees (3+ years old). For example, baby trees are 7 - 15 euro per tree and juveniles are 15 -75+ euro per tree depending on the varietal and age.

In addition to the cost of the trees, there will be transportation, planting, soil care, irrigation and maintenance costs.

Our family will achieve this goal of 100 trees no matter what...however, with your help, we can do it faster and create TANGIBLE PROGRESS TOGETHER.
