Help Save Sicilys Best Friend, Scooby!
Donation protected
Nearly 6 months ago our Baby girl Sicily was stripped of her best friend Scooby after a freak accident happened. Sicily is our 11 year old daughter who is on the autism spectrum, has sensory processing disorder, anxiety & separation anxiety as well as Specific Learning Disabilities. She trained him to fetch, sit, lay, roll over and even taught him to shake your hand when given the command to “be friends”. He was her best friend, sometimes her only friend!
On that day, our son and nephew decided to play basketball in the back yard where Scooby was. The boys had been told dozens of times to not play ball in the back yard when scooby was back there because it hyped him up. He loved playing ball and had MANY deflated balls because he couldn’t understand that if you bite the ball they will deflate. He was on a tie out cable inside of a chain link fence. While the boys were playing ball Scooby kept jumping towards them trying to get to the basketball. Eventually the latch gave and he jumped up on our nephew. His claws made contact with his arm and caused injuries. When our nephew got treated and medication (to prevent infection) urgent care reported to police that our dog had “bit” him. 2 days later the city seized Scooby and told me that they planned to put him down and issued me citations for having a vicious dog and unrestraint dog. (Although he was neither) After almost 6 months my lawyer contacted me and said that the city was willing to drop the charges. But the stipulation is that we either adhere to the city code and build an elaborate expensive outdoors kennel where he will be secure OR REMOVE HIM FROM OUR CITY PERMANENTLY! Also we have to reimburse $630 to the city for the 6 months they have taken care of him! We have tried to rehome him but to no avail we still do not have anyone willing to relocate him. This is why I’m coming to you asking for help to build this secure kennel. After paying $800 to our attorney, funds are not on our side to save Sicilys beloved Scooby. She asks about once a week if Scooby is still alive. We didn’t know until this week that he IS! We were left to believe he was put down months ago! If anyone could help us save her best friend we would be eternally grateful! She already deals with enough on a daily struggle! She doesn’t deserve to have to go through this! Thank you in advance for any help And ALL PRAYERS!
