My mom came home from work to find Sheldon, her beloved Scottish Fold cat, lying on the floor and barely alive. She rushed him to the animal hospital, where they discovered he had stones in his bladder and needed emergency surgery to survive. My mom, who lives alone and relies on Sheldon for companionship, agreed to the surgery without hesitation. After the surgery and a two-night hospital stay, the doctor said that if Sheldon could urinate on his own after removing the catheter, he could go home. Unfortunately, when they took the catheter out, Sheldon was unable to urinate, so it had to be put back in, and he has remained in the hospital for several more days. Now, the doctor is saying that Sheldon might need an additional surgery to enlarge his urethra, which could help, but there is no guarantee it will solve the problem.

What makes this even more difficult is that my mom is currently fighting stage 4 cancer. She is already facing enormous medical bills for her own treatment, and the added strain of Sheldon's emergency care is overwhelming. Sheldon is not just a pet—he is her constant companion and emotional support during the hardest time of her life. She loves him dearly and wants to do everything she can to keep him healthy and by her side.
